Day 63 – Underdog

Vinny’s daughter has 3 kids ages 13, 7 and 20 months, which makes me a Grandma (a very young Grandma – lol). I love these kids so much. During the party yesterday, the 7 year old (Aiden) asked me if he could stay the night with us. Obviously the answer was yes. So today was Aiden's day.

Every morning I tend to my plants. He had a very particular interest in what I was doing. He got in there and helped me locate and pinch off any dead leaves in my very large lavender plant. We talked about my succulent and cactus, my peace lily and shamrock. I promised him when the farmers market comes back I would take him to pick out his own lavender plant and I would show him how to be a part of helping something to grow and flourish. He was so excited at that which to me was just awesome.
After my morning routine was complete, he- Vinny and I headed over to the beach for a walk. Vinny showed him how to crush dry clams and they had fun for a while doing that. (boys!- lol) It was beautiful and sunny out so we just walked around for a bit. Then we took him to the beach playground. We all played on the swings for a while.

With that I found the moment to complete my intention. I had an immediate memory come right into my mind. Therefore, in a nod to the days of Heather and I as kids playing on the swings- I gave Aiden an underdog! He didn’t know what it was so imagine his surprise when I told him to hold on tight and I just went for it! Holding the chains, I reared the swing back, held for a sec and ran all the way under him and let him swing on back. Vinny was laughing and Aiden was crackin up!! It was higher than when Vinny was pushing him but he loved it just like we did when we were kids.
Anyhow, after the beach we came home and I made the whole family a big brunch. After a little clean up, we ran errands and just had fun hanging out with the little guy. I love this age, he is so full of personality and you just never know what he is going to say. We played games, had some snacks, then a great dinner and of course ice cream as we all watched a couple of movies and hung out. He is totally into my blog and both last night and tonight (yea he stayed another night lol) he sat right by me wanting to see every word I typed which I think is so awesome. This entire visit he was truly my little shadow and I must admit…I loved every single moment of it. #wishmykidswerelittlestill #timeflies #greatweekend #HGAL
