Day 49 - Love Locks

In our town, not far from me actually- there is a beautiful walking path. It’s called the Cliff Walk and it’s a major tourist attraction. It goes for quite a few miles with the ocean on one side and the many, many mansions of old on the other side. Most mansions, previously belonging to the “high society” of many years ago, have since been turned into tourist sites, schools, etc. It is a truly magnificent place and I have enjoyed it year round but especially during the warmer months.

Anyhow, there a few spots where they have placed fences to keep the people safe from the dangerous, steep cliff edges. On these fences people have begun putting locks of love much like the infamous Pont des Arts and Pont de l’Archeveche bridges near the Louvre in Paris. As soon as I saw those fences I knew I just had to do that with Vinny but we just haven’t gotten around to it. Every time we walked that path we would say “Oh yeah, we have to do that one day” but we just never did.
Today over our morning coffee I asked Vinny if he would like to put our love lock on the fence for my intention. He said that was a great idea. I grabbed the lock and gave it a quick coat of chalk paint. I wrapped the arched lock in lace and attached a pretty little metal tag that said “Love”. In red Sharpie I wrote our names. We asked our son to come take pictures of us and with that we were off. When we arrived - there was actually another couple that must have just put one on too and they were just hugging and kissing and having their moment. So we walked along the path for a bit simply enjoying the beauty of the cliff walk in the winter. We made our way back just as the other couple was leaving. We took some pictures, attached our lock and together we threw the key in the ocean.

Today’s intention was heartwarming and nostalgic. If it wasn’t for this blog and my intention, I don’t know when we would have gotten around to doing this simple activity. I look forward to embracing and participating in the multitude of events and “to-do’s” that this beautiful little town has to offer and accredit this blog to my follow through. #embracinglife #inHGALmemory
