Day 59 – Dessert First

We all remember the days when we were kids, having our mom or dad say no to a tasty treat before dinner because it may “ruin your appetite”. I really don’t know why this popped in my head today. Being able to break those types of innocent rules is one of the perks of being an adult. And yet, we don’t. Maybe by the time we are grown up and raising kids of our own we no longer care.

I remember back when I was a sophomore in high school our school had a little store in it. They sold snacks and random items. Every morning for months I purchased a package (of 2 large) double fudge chocolate chip cookies, a bag of Cheetos and a Pepsi. I’m not kidding even a little bit. That was my breakfast- Every….Single….Morning. To me, it was heavenly. If my parents ever found that out back then- I’m sure they would have been horrified! Either way, thinking back I shudder with how disgusting that combo truly sounds.
For today’s intention I am going to exercise my grown up rights and I’m eating dessert before dinner. Vinny is coming home with pizza for dinner but won’t be home for a bit. I have a piece of the most delectable carrot cake from a local supermarket that I am completely and utterly obsessed with lately, sitting in my kitchen eyeing me up!! LOL

Today has been an amazing day and I am embracing the fact that (as my friend Lena says) “change is afoot!” The weather is lovely again today, I was able to spend some time at the beach this morning, had tea at my friend’s house mid-morning and there is just so much to be thankful for. I am taking my carrot cake out to my deck, eating it as I watch the sun go down then devouring as much pizza as my appetite will allow when Vinny walks through the door- simply because I can. #breakingtherules #dessertbeforedinner
Tonight's sunset

Best cake EVER!!!!
