Day 305 – Survival Kits

I have been talking to some of my friends the last couple of months about some plans of “giving” this holiday season and beyond. One of the things I wanted to do for one of my intentions was to make survival kits for the homeless. I wanted to have large ziplock baggies filled with supplies like soap, shampoo, deodorant, band aids, tissues, sanitizer, razors, toothbrushes and toothpaste and things like that. Then I wanted to take them to the shelter in Providence and hand them out. I was going to have anyone that wanted to get involved so we could make as many as we could.

Funny how things just fall right into place. Last Sunday at church they made an announcement that the students are making “survival kits” for the homeless. I just looked at Vinny and he looked at me and we just smiled. That is EXACTLY what I was calling them. On the way out they handed out pamphlets with the upcoming activities for the week and the list of what was being collected for these kits was on there.
So I decided I would give supplies to the church and let the kids put them together, it’s good for them to be so involved with such a noble cause. So for my intention today, Vinny and I went to purchase some of the items. I wish I could do so much more. I will be collecting blankets in December for the homeless in Providence and the surrounding cities. So for now I am just extremely honored to be giving to this cause.

Homelessness is a sad, sad state of affairs and anything anyone can do helps so much. These poor people must feel so neglected and forgotten and it just breaks my heart. So I am truly happy and honored to be able to do something to help the cause. #blessed #HGAL
