Day 301 – Clay Throwing

A little over a month ago I got a Groupon for a store only a few towns over called Clayground. I have seen many different shops that offer painting on pottery, I even took my boys when they were little to participate in this activity. However, this is the first time I have found one of these shops that also offer clay throwing. I have always thought that it looked like a super fun experience so I decided it would be an awesome intention. I made the appointment and today was the day!

I asked Micah if he would like to come with me and he said yes right away. I cannot say enough how awesome it is to have all three of my boys (who are now men) always be so willing to participate in all my projects and whom have always been so extremely supportive in all my endeavors. They are so well-rounded and I am so proud of that!
So…. off we went just he and I- chatting and enjoying the most beautiful sunny day which really was a perfect day for a ride. When we got there, the staff was so friendly and as we were talking Micah shared the fact that he remembered painting on pottery as a child and was happy to be taking part in clay throwing with me. We put on our plastic aprons, rolled up our sleeves and got to it!

The instructor, Carol, was very knowledgeable, accommodating and friendly. She was right there instructing, watching closely and assisting if/when necessary. Micah went first and did an absolutely amazing job on his bowl. I was so happy to see him not only participating but truly having fun with it. Then it was my turn. I decided to make a small vase that I can display flowers in at the house.
Seeing something turn from literally a lump of clay to an actual item was a cool experience. It only took about 15 minutes each. Now they will bake it and we will go back to paint our items at our leisure. On the way out, I thanked Micah for coming along with me and he said he was glad he came and had a great time. We went on to have an awesome afternoon and family evening. A truly lovely Sunday. #HGAL #whydotheycallitclaythrowing #greatweekendbutovertoosoon
