Day 214 – Gallery Night

I live close to many museums and galleries. One of them, The Samuel Whitehorne Museum, just around the corner from my house was having an open house as part of Newport Gallery Night. This is a period mansion that displays a collection of furniture from the colonial era. So, my mom and I went over to check it out.

We toured the house, the rooms and my very favorite…the gardens! As soon as we walked out of the house and into the garden, the fragrant aroma from the multiple blooming plants and flowers washed right over me.
In the home, we looked at and discussed various furniture pieces. I absolutely admire the craftsmanship and attention to detail of furniture pieces from long ago. I am always so impressed with what the people back then could accomplish to last and endure for such a long time with clearly quite primitive tools. It is so nice to be able to take the time to slow down and see and appreciate the effort, time and product of such hard work from way back when.

Anyhow, afterwards we headed to the beach for a walk, lobster rolls and beach time. #HGAL
