Once he was off to work, I was in some sort of fog. I tried
to get up and get motivated but ended up on the couch (so not like me!). Mid-morning,
my friend Jen called me and invited me to come exploring with her today. She
came by to get me and after a brief stop at Starbucks and a quick errand we
went to a spot by the nearby bridge (underneath it). We wandered into the snow
to find our way to the water (her paving the way and me following her
footsteps). We went through some woods and eventually emerged onto a beach(ish)
area just under and next to the main bridge to our town. It was awesome! There
were literally icebergs in the water, some broken and small pieces floating by.
There were so many things to marvel at. We just walked around, chatting,
giggling and enjoying our beautiful, sunny day.
On the way back, looking at all the fresh, untouched snow- I
mentioned how much I would love to make a snow angel (what a perfectly fitting
intention) but that the snow was probably way too deep. Jen was like “Come on,
let’s do it! Who cares if it’s deep?” I am so glad that was her attitude because
I REALLY wanted to do it- lol.
So, she volunteered to go first. She turned her back to the
untouched area of snow, bent her legs and sprung high into the air landing
flush on her back into the soft, deep snow. The entire time while I was
snapping pictures I was just cracking up! I didn’t expect her to do it like
that! It was so hysterical.
So obviously, when it was my turn- I couldn’t just ease in.
Oh no! I bent my legs and jumped backwards as best as I could. The pictures
tell the story however. My legs were way up in the air, arms flailing about and
when I landed I was covered in snow! I was just laughing and laughing the whole
time. I was snowy, cold, disheveled and never better. What the sunshine
silently promised me this morning had come true in every way. I had a bright
and wonderful day.
