Afterwards, Elijah was off with all his friends and we went
out to go see the 250th Anniversary Stamp Act Reenactment in a
nearby park. I have never been to anything like this before. When we lived in
NC they used to have Civil War reenactments but we never went, so I wanted to
stop by and see what this was all about for my intention. Newport is actually
steeped in colonial history. There are hundreds of 18th century
buildings that make this city a unique tourist spot.
Anyhow, we went to the park nestled right in the center of
this busy, bustling town. There was plenty of tree shade and the ocean breeze
felt perfect. They had 6 living history stations to demonstrate activities that
would have been common in the 18th century Newport. They had modern
hors d’oeuvres and tea available as well. There was a reenactment of the
protest and the party was to start after (we didn’t stay through the entire
thing- it spanned over 4 hours). Either way, it was a unique intention and I
was glad to go.
We wandered around town afterwards and even enjoyed a live outdoor
concert at Long Wharf and did a little shopping while we were out and about.
Today was a good day (and it’s only half over). Cheers to the weekend!! #HGAL
